Button Pushing: From Asleep to Awake

There will always be people who push your buttons. They can leave you fuming at the ears…but then you remember that you’re awake, and smacking the shit out of them is no longer a viable option.

Those annoying souls are there for your benefit, you know.  An easy thing to forget when they push too far, through word or action.

I had a person in my life who was incapable of making a supportive statement.  OK, let’s be honest:  he’s a dick.

It doesn’t matter if what they say is true for you or not.  Anything presented to you is from that person’s perspective, and reflects their view of the world.  There will always be people to share their opinions with you, unless you decide to be that guy that meditates in a cave for the rest of your life.

So let’s do a little comparison between how you might react to someone pushing your buttons, back when you were asleep, and now that you’re awake.

I’ll share a recent public statement from my personal button-pusher:

A 52 year old woman can go off her meds and talk shit about unicorns and aliens without her friends and relatives catching her and locking her up until she starts taking her meds again. One day she will start to believe the things she says on You Tube and forget there is a difference between fantasy and reality and try to sell her concepts in the real world and then her friends and family will become the elusive unicorn and alien!  Love always!

Seriously! Love always!?

That is the sign of a soul contract, right there.  Or passive aggression.  Probably both.

So how to react to a statement like that?

As an asleep human, I would go into defense mode.

I might refute in anger the untruths of the statement, or…even worse…retaliate with the most painful dagger to his insecurity that I could muster up in a millisecond.

When we’re asleep, we see each other as separate people, at odds with the world and everyone in it. We’ve forgotten that each person we interact with is merely a reflection of ourselves, presenting an opportunity to discover something about us.

Now let’s take a look at how awake people could handle the same situation:

An awake human would recognize the opportunity to respond to any statement, whether negative or positive, with kindness and compassion.

The awakened soul will aim to deliver a response that deflects any negativity, through the understanding of the source delivering it.  Knowing that we are all one, looking at life through different eyes, we respond as if we are looking into a mirror. This maintains karmic balance and is self-love at its best.

Those button-pushers are giving you a gift, to practice your compassionate action.  To put yourself in another’s shoes.  To transmute from a reactive separate person, into a better you that understands the connection between all souls, no matter how separate they may feel.

So how did I respond? Well, I won’t claim to be Buddha. Initially, I devised many daggers to fling; but what good does it do other than create more karma for me to balance? So I said nothing until I felt that I could deliver a positive message, one that asserted my choice to detach from consistently negative people.

I’m sure another button-pusher is well on his way into my life, because that’s how we grow.

How blissful it would be if the awakening process were the simple flick of a switch…from Bitch to Buddha in the blink of an eye.

Don’t expect to be a saint; that’s not why you came to Earth at this time.  In this divinely-orchestrated interactive game board, you get the chance to decide, at every moment, who you will be in any situation.  You’ll have plenty of chances to better yourself, I promise!

And don’t forget that sometimes, the biggest button pusher is you, talking to yourself!  All the more opportunity to send love in the wake of statements that lack it.

Love always!

learning to become

Move from a Human Being…to a Human Becoming

Do you want the secret of life?  It’s only one sentence.

Can it be that easy?  Well, easy is an attitude, not a process.  Yes, it can be that easy.

It’s more about your attitude than anything else.

The secret of life:

Move from being a victim to taking personal responsibility for every single thing that has, is, or will be happening to you.

For some people, that statement can be a big jump.  We’ve been programmed to give away our power to others: teachers, parents, the government.  After all, they know best, right?

Nope.  You know what’s best for you.  And you don’t know what’s best for others, so Step One:

Focus on you.

Catch that doubt that just dropped in—about being selfish to think like that—and toss that shit out the window.  That’s programming too, and unless you want to stay a victim, then throw it out. If you want your life to change, then you must put yourself in the forefront of your attention.  You can’t light anyone else’s torch without lighting your own first.

Now that we’ve got that down, let’s move to Step Two:

You are a powerful creator, who has decided to put a small portion of yourself into a low-vibrational state that looks solid, and you made that portion of you forget that you put yourself there.

You then set out to reconnect with the other parts of yourself, both visible and invisible. Part of the process of awakening is about remembering that you put yourself in the physical realm in the first place; and that most of you is somewhere else, waiting for you to acknowledge it. Once you have that connection back, you’ll realize the truth of yourself as the creator, by tapping into Universal wisdom that demonstrates, through “coincidences” and synchronicities, that your thoughts are manifesting into the physical.

The Universal laws apply whether you remember them or not. That’s how victims stay victims; by consistently thinking victim thoughts, labeling themselves and others as victims, thus attracting yet more situations of victimhood.  This will continue until one realizes the correlation of their thoughts to their reality.  If this is you, then you are well on your way to recognizing this truth.  It’s a good time to change, if you are tired of being a victim.

Once you understand that you created your reality, then you must take responsibility for every single thing that has happened to you, and also for your judgment of it.  Any feelings of victimhood were simply a choice, and other choices are always available.

If you’re reading this, you are realizing this truth.  As you cognize this truth, you will readily take back the power you previously relinquished to others and you will use this power to create a life that you do want.

Finally, Step 3 takes over until you’re done around here:

Recognize that the nature of Life is not just BEING, it’s about BECOMING.

This means that you are constantly expanding through the experience of situations and scenarios…situations and scenarios that you have created for that purpose.

“Being” changes to “becoming” when we embrace that truth, and allowing the higher self to take the joystick to steer us in the direction of our desires.  The act of “becoming” is a dynamic state, rather than a static one.

Ready to try it?  You can start with a mantra, stated with intention and resolve to live your life as a creator who, although you can’t see the whole picture yet, knows that other parts of you can.  It’s just a simple request for assistance:

“I’m a human becoming…help me to become!”

You can use anything you like to speak to the higher part of yourself that can see where you’re headed.  Since you’re endowed with free will, other aspects of “you” will only assist when asked to do so.  It’s you requesting help from yourself, so there’s never any power relinquished in such a statement.

Making the shift from “being” to “becoming” aligns you with the secret of life by right use of the main Universal laws that govern creation:

  • Law of Attraction, by drawing to you the people, events and situations that match your current vibration.
  • Law of Intent, by your stating your particular desires for expansion, and focusing on them with feeling.
  • Law of Allowance, by asking for a bit of help from other parts of you that can see more of the picture.

An entire world is out there for the creating. If you can imagine it, it exists.  Self-empowerment is the secret!
